L'estate in un cottage finlandese moderna

Summer in a Finnish lakeside cottage

A dream for many Scandinavians is a cottage where to spend the weekends and holidays, and this little house - usually made of wood - in Finnish is called mökki. This time we show you a modern mökki, built a few years ago on a place that was previously a free beach. The enchanting view is what we call the Finnish national view: the infinite lake with its islets for as long as the eye can see. The main house consists of a living room with kitchenette, two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. The spaces are limited but to spend a few days in peace these are definitely sufficient, plus in the sauna building (which can be reached by walking on a wooden pier) has also another bedroom for guests. The dreamy decor and colour palette makes you think of one of those traditionally American beach houses yet being completely Scandinavian. Please note the actual pinewood indoors is left untreated: in the past years everyone was painting the wooden walls to white which I'm sure they'll regret soon enough! The beautiful structure of the wood (at least in my opinion) should be untouched and in this lovely mökki you can definitely see why.

Here are the photos of this beautiful summer home, thank you for the kind permission to use them @villapisto
