Christmas Calendar - 23

Christmas cards have a long tradition in Scandinavia. Orginally created in the United Kingdom, they've spread all over the world. In Finland the first Christmas card was send in 1871 and from that year on the quantities have only grown to arrive at 47 milion cards in 2010. That's a whole lot of Christmas cards in a country which counts less than 6 milions of habitants.

I love the Christmas card tradition. It's so much more personal than an email or a post in social media. What would be better than to receive a card from the people you love just before Christmas!

My favourite illustrator is definitely Lennart Helje. Like in the postcard above, he really knows how to captivate the Scandinavian Christmas spirit in his cards. His cards are small little pieces of art!
